Online Tools & Resources

This is a list of free Internet Bible study tools and resources which I have found. Since they are all online, there is nothing to download. Some of them are very similar, but at different websites. I hope they are useful to you.

Bible Dictionary – Bible-Dictionary.org – Search for Biblical names, places, characters, stories, quotes, concepts, and terms with Smith’s, Easton’s, and Hitchcock’s Bible Dictionaries.

BibleGateway – passage lookup, keyword search, topical index

Bible Study ToolsCombines concordance, dictionary & lexicon.

Bible Toolbox – Authenticwalk Ministries. Bible study resource with over 250 online tools. Customized tool box can be added to your website.

Bible translations – BibleKeeper.com. The extensive list of multi-lingual links is on the left, font display help explained on the right. Lists 33 different translations in a variety of languages.

Biblical Maps – The Unbound Bible – search for maps from Scripture passages or by place name.

Brown-Driver-Briggs Condensed Hebrew Lexicon – The Christ’s Assembly – search by Strong’s number.

Calvin Hymnary Project – Beta version from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Browse 26 hymnals, 14226 hymns, or 7812 hymn tunes by hymnal, title, subject, author, composer, meter, or key.

Christian Classics Ethereal Library – Christian literature on the internet. Includes a Bible Browser, Study Bible, Hymnary, writings of the Early Church Fathers, Hymn Tune Archive, and a Recommended Reading List linked to well known Christian classics (most available as pdf downloads

Commentaries – Studylight.org. Links to various commentaries.

Dictionaries – Crosswalk.com. Links to a variety of Bible dictionaries.

Greek Lexical Parser – The Unbound Bible – all grammatical parsings for Greek word of your choice.

HTML Bible – johnhurt.com – Reference Suite, Parallel texts, Strong’s concordance, Speaking Bible, and more.

Interlinear Bible – Crosswalk.com. The Bible in it’s original languages with the literal English translation. Requires BST fonts to be installed on your computer in order to see the Greek and Hebrew characters.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia – Studylight.org. This is James Orr’s edition which is now public domain. The hardbound version has four volumes.

Keyword Search – BibleGateway.com – Search a variety of translations with a keyword.

Lexicons – MultiLex lexicons at The Unbound Bible – search a Greek or Hebrew lexicon.

Linked Word Project – Worthwhile.com – Online Bible with all words linked to a study notes box. Includes Strong’s and TWOT or TDNT number, transliteration, definition, word origin, part of speech, usage in KJV.

NETBible – Bible.org – Online study Bible with extensive resources including word study tools, choice of translations including Greek and Hebrew, interlinear version, cross references, footnotes, commentaries, and a discovery box for searching related articles and more.

NT Greek Lexicon – Studylight.org. Based on Thayer’s and Smith’s Bible Dictionary and is keyed to the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament. Queries any Strong’s number, English or Greek word.

NT Greek Lexicon – Crosswalk.com. Based on Thayer’s and Smith’s Bible Dictionary plus others; this is keyed to the large Kittel and the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament. Queries any Strong’s number, English or Greek word.

Online Bibles – International Bible Society – English and non-English translations, research and study tools.

OT Hebrew Lexicon – Studylight.org. Derived from the Brown, Driver, Briggs, Gesenius Lexicon and is keyed to the Theological Word Book of the Old Testament. Queries any Strong’s number, English or Hebrew word.

OT Hebrew Lexicon – Crosswalk.com. Based on Brown, Driver, Briggs, Gesenius Lexicon and keyed to the Theological Word Book of the Old Testament. Queries any Strong’s number, English or Hebrew word.

Parallel Study Bible – Crosswalk.com – Search any biblical word or phrase in choice of ancient biblical or modern languages, and choice of translations.

Passage Lookup – BibleGateway.com – Search a variety of translations for a Bible passage from any book, chapter, and verse. Includes footnote and cross reference options.

Robertson’s Word Pictures of the New Testament – Studylight.org. Includes a copyright statement.

Search the Bible – BibleKeeper.com. Search either by chapter and verse, or by specific text.

Strong’s Concordance – The Christ’s Assembly – Search by word or Strong’s number for any verse, word, or definition in the Bible.

Strong’s Lexicon – The Unbound Bible. Search by Greek or Hebrew word or definition, or Strong’s number.

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon – The Christ’s Assembly – search by Strong’s number.

Topical Index – BibleGateway.com. Search using either Nave’s Topical Bible, or Torrey’s New Topical Textbook.

Vincent’s NT Word Studies – GodRules.net. Search by book and chapter.

Webster’s 1828 edition of American Dictionary of the English Language – mshaffer – Query by word or definition, or browse by letter.
